Strictly do not finalize travel plans before receiving the service applied for. All processing times below are average processing times. Please plan your travel accordingly.

Applicants sending their documents by Post/Courier are requested to ensure that they are completed and meet requirements. Processing times mentioned do not include transit time by post/courier. Transit times by Registered Post are generally 3-5 days on average. Transit times for Toll Priority Courier are generally next working day (may vary up to 3 working days in some locations) Incomplete applications will lead to an increase in processing time and applicants will need to comply with any changes in the procedure that may occur during this time. VFS/Government of India would not be responsible for any inconvenience/problems faced as a result of finalizing travel plans before obtaining the relevant service.

For Visas

4 Working Days: For Applications submitted in Canberra, Brisbane or Perth

8 Working Days: For Applications submitted in Sydney, Melbourne or Adelaide
Most visas for Australian nationals and permanent residents of Australia would be processed with in the above mentioned period after submission of application except for below categories.

A minimum of 45 days but could take more time
Nationals of Pakistan or any applicant (irrespective of current nationality) who previously held Pakistani nationality.

Applicants applying for Tourist visa with in one month of expiry of their previous Tourist visa.

10th working day

-	Non-Australians from countries other than Afghanistan, China, DPRK, Iran, Pakistan, Sri Lanka.
-	Nationals of Bangladesh or any applicant (irrespective of current nationality) who previously held Bangladeshi nationality

A minimum of 4 weeks but could take more time
Nationals of Afghanistan, China, DPRK, Iran, Sri Lanka OR any applicant (irrespective of current nationality) who was previously a national of any of these countries

PROCESS

Click, “All About Visas”. Confirm the visa type based on your reason for travel; do not make any confirmed bookings.

Complete your application online

Step 3

Once completed online you must download & print all form/s, read and complete checklist

Step 4

Check fees payable and payment options

Step 5

Sign form/s and checklist at all indicated places

Step 6

Ensure photos are strictly as per specifications

Step 7

Check processing times to plan your travel accordingly.

Step 8

Attach all supporting documents required as per the checklist. Make sure your application is complete. Incomplete applications cannot be accepted.

Step 9

Submit your application based on jurisdiction by Express Post/Courier in person or through a Travel Agent (where you reside determines where you need to submit your application)

Your completed application will be returned to you by the mode of delivery selected by you once processed. Allow for 4-5 days transit time for postal or courier return applications. Transit times differ by location and do not take into account any public holidays.
