Each applicant is required to complete One PIO Application Form and a Form U
Form N

The checklist for the application category that you apply for will provide details on which specific forms you may need to download. In some instances, there may be more than one form.

Complete a separate checklist and application form/s for each person applying. Ensure the documents are completed accurately and signed where needed.

Completing Your PIO Application

Form P

Declaration to be given by a Parent to apply for a PIO card for a child below 18 yrs of age

Form S

Undertaking: to be attached in case of foreign national applying for a PIO card as a spouse of Indian National or PIO holder or OCI card holder.
This Form must be filled up by a Person of Indian Origin on whose basis the PIO card has been applied.
E.g.: Mr. ( Indian National or Person or Indian origin) & Mrs. X (Foreign National), Mrs. X would be applying for a PIO Card & Form S must be filled in and signed by Mr. X.

Download & print the form/s and checklist, read and complete

Step 3
Check fees payable and payment options

Step 4
Sign form/s and checklist at all indicated places

Step 5
Ensure photos are as per specifications. Incorrect photos may be rejected by the Ministry and result in your application getting delayed.

Step 6
Check processing times to plan your travel accordingly.

Step 7
Attach all supporting documents required as per the checklist

Step 8
Submit your application based on jurisdiction by Express Post/Courier in person or through a representative (where you reside determines where you need to submit your application)

Step 9
Track your application online

Step 10
Your completed application will be returned to you by the mode of delivery selected by you once processed.
