Note: A $20 Additional Fee will be applicable if the old passport expiry date is more than 30 Days from the date the application is lodged.

To calculate the applicable total fees add the following:
Passport Fee based on selected type + $2 Indian Community Welfare Fund levy ( effective June 1st 2010).
VFS Service Charge $18
If you submit your application by Post/Courier add a Postal Processing Fee of $8 per every two applications. e.g. 1-2 application’s = $8, 2-4 applications = $16 (your application will be processed complete/incomplete and returned to you by post. You do not need to enclose a return post/courier envelope with your application)
Credit card surcharge of 1.5% applicable for card payments. Debit card surcharge of $1 applicable for EFTPOS payments at the counter. Only Master card or Visa cards issued in Australia are acceptable.

Passport Application

Step 1
Confirm the passport category type you wish to apply for based on your individual situation. (New, Lost, Damaged etc,.)

Step 2
Complete your application online

Step 3
Download & print the form/s, read and complete checklist

Step 4
The Ministry website may provide you with an appointment time ignore this.

Step 5
Check fees payable and payment options

Step 6
Sign form/s and checklist at all indicated places

Step 7
Ensure photos are as per specifications. Incorrect photos may be rejected by the Ministry and result in your application getting delayed.

Step 8
Check processing times to plan your travel accordingly.

Step 9
Attach all supporting documents required as per the checklist

Step 10
Submit your application based on jurisdiction by Express Post/Courier in person or through a representative (where you reside determines where you need to submit your application)

Step 11
Track your application online

Step 12
Your completed application will be returned to you by the mode of delivery selected by you once processed.

Step 13
If you need a new passport on an emergency basis, a handwritten passport valid for one year can be issued, but this cannot be extended further. For emergency passports,
