Emergency Visa Information
Visa applications on emergency basis are accepted only in cases of Medical Emergencies/Unfortunate event in the family. Please note that for Emergency / Urgent Visa Applications, applicants / representative must visit a Visa Application centre with supporting documents and itinerary and lodge the application before 2:00pm, where the case will be presented to the High Commission/Consulate for urgent processing / issuance of Visa.

If approved, applicants / representative will be informed and an Emergency fee will be applicable. Urgent issued Visas can be given for a short validity with limited number of entries and the processing time is as under:

Applications Lodged in Sydney: Visa issued next working day after 10:30am.
Applications lodged in Canberra: Visa issued same day. Check with the centre for collection timing.
Applications lodged in Perth: Visa issued the same day. Check with centre for collection timing.
Brisbane & Adelaide: issued on 3rd day from date of submission at an Application centre. Check with the centre for collection timing.
Applications lodged in Melbourne: Visa issued same day after 4:30pm

Emergency Processing Fees:
Consular Emergency fee of $141 + VFS Emergency Processing Fee of $88 (inclusive of GST) is applicable over and above standard fees based on Visa application type and Nationality. See Fees for more details.

The above service is not available for the applicants who are Non-Australians without permanent residency and Nationals / Ex-nationals of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, China, DPRK, Iran, Pakistan, Sri Lanka

The Visa Application form must be printed and signed where applicable. Applicants must provide all the necessary documents mentioned in the checklist and the application must be complete to enable processing.

After Hours Emergency Service:
This Service is available only in case of a serious medical emergency or an unfortunate event in the family that requires immediate emergency travel. This service is not available for business emergencies. Click here

For all type of applications, same day pick up requests will incur an additional VFS Emergency Processing Fee of Au$88.00 (inclusive of GST) including interim/complete withdrawal cases.

Step 1
Confirm the visa type based on your reason for travel; do not make any confirmed bookings. Check processing times to plan your travel accordingly.

Step 2
Complete the application form, download & print the application forms and checklist for the selected visa type. Sign form/s and checklist at all indicated places. Incomplete applications cannot be accepted and will be returned.

Step 3
Check fees payable and payment options.

Step 4
Ensure photos are strictly as per specifications. Photo Booth Services are available at Visa Application Centres.

Step 5
Submit your application based on jurisdiction by Express Post/Courier in person or through a Travel Agent (where you reside determines where you need to submit your application)

Step 6
Track your application online. Your completed application will be returned to you by the mode of delivery selected by you once processed. Allow for 1-3 days transit time for courier return . Transit times differ by location and do not take into account any public holidays.
